Junko Tabei

Junko Tabei  was born in 1939 and died in 2016. She was a Japanese mountaineer. She was the first woman to reach the Everest summit on May 16, 1975, a height challenge .

After climbing Everest she also managed to climb the Seven Summits, the highest mountains of each of the continents, becoming the first woman capable of doing so.

Also, her great passion for mountaineering didn´t prevent her from studying and she graduated in English Literature at the University for Women of Showa.

Junko never stopped doing what she liked because Japanese society considered mountaineering only for men.Junko Tabei is a perfect example of a fighter woman. She isn´t afraid of anything!!
